Moscow 1938: A dangerous place to have a sense of humour...
Collaborators follows esteemed Soviet writer Mikhail Bulgakov, as he is blackmailed into writing a play about leader of the USSR, Joseph Stalin, for his 60th birthday. This darkly comic drama centres around the unlikely friendship between Bulgakov and the dictator, as they meet in secret underneath the Kremlin; Stalin helping to finish the play, and Bulgakov issuing security orders on the leader's behalf, accidentally inciting the Great Purge as he does so.
